Sodium aluminate
Sodium aluminate, also known as sodium metaluminate, is a common chemical substance. It is a white, odorless, tasteless, and strongly alkaline solid. It has wide applications in multiple fields such as civil engineering, petrochemicals, and water treatment. Properties: White, odorless, tasteless, a strongly alkaline solid. The product of high-temperature melting is white powder. It is soluble in water but insoluble in ethanol. It readily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide in the air. After dissolving in water, it easily precipitates aluminum hydroxide. When aluminum hydroxide dissolves in sodium hydroxide solution, it also forms sodium aluminate solution. It is used as a mordant for textiles, a filler for paper, a purifying agent for water, etc. It can be produced by co-fusing alumina with solid sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate.
Main uses
In civil engineering, this product is mixed with water glass for leak sealing during construction.
2. In the papermaking industry, this product, when used in combination with aluminium sulfate, is an excellent filler.
3. In terms of water treatment, it can be used as an additive for water purifying agents.
4. It can be used as a cement accelerator.
5. It is also widely applied in petrochemical, pharmaceutical, rubber, printing and dyeing, textile and catalyst production.
6. This product is used in the production process of titanium dioxide to coat its surface and enhance its properties.
